Ajinomoto

The Ajinomoto Group’s Regenerative Medicine team was established in 2014 to help advance the promise of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) therapies from the research bench to the clinic. Recognizing the need for high-quality, scalable, and regulatory-friendly cell culture solutions, Ajinomoto Group partnered with the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA) at Kyoto University, one of the world’s leading institutions in iPSC research, founded by Shinya Yamanaka. Through this collaboration, the StemFit™ platform was developed to address the challenges of maintaining and expanding iPSCs under conditions suitable for translational and clinical applications. By combining CiRA’s pioneering expertise in stem cell biology with Ajinomoto Group’s strengths in amino acid science, bioprocess development, and quality-driven manufacturing, StemFit™ has evolved into a comprehensive portfolio of culture media and ancillary materials designed to support the development, scale-up, and commercialization of regenerative medicine therapies. Today, The Ajinomoto Group’s Regenerative Medicine team continues to work closely with researchers, biotechnology companies, and cell therapy developers worldwide, providing the tools and technical expertise needed to accelerate the journey of iPSC-based therapies from discovery to patients.
